Firmness in Design 1 - Orientation
Orientation on site allows good surrounding coverage from existing trees to provide passive solar shading. The East and West faces a somewhat exposed so a timber sun screen encapsulates the building. Solar gain & UV control films can be used in addition to the sun screening.
Firmness in Design 2 - Natural Cross Ventilation
Operable windows at either end of the building along with full height sliding glass doors to the central living space allow for continuous cross ventilation through the building
Firmness in Design 3 - Structural Simplicity
Rationalization of the structural setout allows for unobstructed circulation throughout the building as well as providing occupants with clear views to the landscaping beyond.
