I am happy with the overall design of the cabin; it addresses all the points associated with my exemplar project. However, it feels more like and urban apartment than the laid back styling associated with Balnarring Beach House. This I feel is more about my particular experience in urban architecture; the subtleties of “beach” architecture is something one acquires over time, with exposure to a variety of projects of a similar branding and is not something easily achieved overnight.
With more time I would have liked to address a few more aspects regarding constructability and how efficient the sun screen would perform in real time solar studies. I feel that this may have been the weakest aspect of the design and requires more detailed thought and testing that could only be achieved by way of computer modeling.
The processes used in the research is something I would like to develop further not only in my studies but in a professional capacity also. I feel there is allot that can be taken from spending time studying other designs in such a manner, it can alter ones perspective about design and its goals.
